The Close of a LegacyA bottomless purple pit amongst
orange piles of dirt;
my life some sort of party
that never runs short on confetti.

The sting of their labor
and my apparent villainy
makes us both lethargic enough
to continue drinking spirits and tasting sweat.

Without ducts or vocal organs,
I can only silently gape
at the toughened slave tearing a little
on his break.

Quickly, quickly
I regurgitate whatever they shoveled
into me to be able to receive
the small seed in his calloused palm.

LimitI felt an urge to pull a black hood over my nose
and escape death,
but all my hoodies incapably
turn transparent
when my nails would scrape in threat.

Most times I keep to myself,
but I'd like lifetimes to mingle.
So I pull the fleece over my nose;
Miscalculated, I overeached to my chin.
When I emerged, it was with a taped smile.

Will you pull it back over me in playfulness?
My arms are loose, but they paralyze
when confronted by the image of manacles
and breathless nights.

to a fatal cure.

Of a Paper WomanThis woman is
Medusa reincarted
with dull cobra-black hair
and Hermes' sword at her mind, not the neck.

Monarchs are knotting figure-eights
in this straightened stomach.

I'm chilled to the ligament,
but I'm not numb
like him.

To me this man is
Pericles reincarted
with curly fresh-cut hair.
He does not have a noble quest,
but he seeks to avert away from you nevertheless.

This is where your somewhat omniscient friend
is proven wrong,
and this man sweeps you off your
mock dragon feet,
sweeping you of your terribly twisted head.
In his winged sandals, no less.

You are head over Achilles' heels infatuated with him!!
